For our Social Media Mob talks, we’ve been trialling an ‘online RSVP system.’ Here’s an example – the sign-up form for the blogging workshop with Steven Lewis.
We’ve had a question about how we do it.
Well, it’s simple. We created a Google Spreadsheet using Google Docs. The columns included name, email address and number attending. Then we clicked the Form drop-down menu and selected Create a form.
When people fill in the form, the information is added immediately to your spreadsheet.
It’s a very powerful function, especially when the data can be fed automatically to your spreadsheet functions. The Guardian used it for crowdsourcing MPs’ expenses. We’re using it for submissions to the Mosman World War II Honour Roll. So its use can stretch far beyond RSVPs. But it works well for that too!
An alternative web service for RSVPs is Eventbrite.
