Jaclyn Moriarty – The Betrayal of Bindy Mackenzie
Bindy is the smartest girl at Ashbury High. She ranks in the 99.9th percentile in everything she does (including extra-curricular activities – she is casual Employee of the Month every month at Kmart). She is also the kindest girl at Ashbury High. Though, there is the small matter of nobody liking her. This term she is out to change this. No more memorizing the departmental outlines to help teachers keep on track. No longer with the reading up on common teen anxieties so that she can offer lunch-time advice. She will let her ruthless self emerge and take hold of this life she is leading.
David Cornish – Monster Blood Tattoo
This unreal new series is set in the amazing new world of the half continent. There are those that look like monsters and there are those that don’t look like monsters – the pretty ones are sometimes far worse than the visible monsters. We join, in this first book, a character on his way to a new job but he is met by a number of good and evil (and sometimes its difficult to tell which is which) character. It also has an excellent web site so check it out http://www.monsterbloodtattoo.com/home.html
Chris Wood – Storm Thief
In the midst of the ocean is the city of Orokos. No one can enter, and no one has ever left. At its heart stands the Fulcrum, source of the probability storms that change whatever they touch. When Rail and his friend Moa steal an unknown artifact they are forced to run for their lives. But have they discovered the key to unlocking the secrets of the city on the sea?
Alison Croggon – The Crow (series Pellinor – the Treesong Trilogy)
The third and final book in this amazing series brings evil to the earth. Something so wrong is poisoning the world. The Nameless one grows stronger by the day. The Treesong – the key to restoring peace – is lost, and only Hem’s sister, Maerad, can unravel its mysteries. While she seeks answers in the north, Hem is sent south. Troubled and unhappy, Hem is haunted by his bitter past and uncertain of his future. Yet he may not realize just how important he could be to the treesong. He must face many other dangers, as the evil force threaten to destroy the city.
Jacqueline Wilson – Candyfloss
Life is about to change for floss, her parents have already spilt up but now her mum has a new husband and they are off to Australia. Floss decides to stay with her dad but its not going to be that simple…
Garth Nix – Sir Thursday
The fourth book in the Keys to the Kingdom series. Arthur must face his fourth challenge. He must get the fourth key from Sir Thursday, pass basic training, release the fourth piece of the will and get rid of the imposter that has taken over his life. With his friend Leaf helping him how could he fail…..
Anthony Horowitz – Evil Star
The next installment of the action packed adventure featuring Matt Freedman. Having survived the first horror of finding and stopping the gate, Matt thinks he’s in for a bit of a relax. But he is sadly mistaken when he discovers that there is a second gate. Matt and Richard are told to head to Peru and with the help of Nexus set the task of stopping another gate. But all who seem to be allies are not, there is a traitor among them.
James Patterson – Maximum Ride: school’s out forever
Following on from his first book in his new series, we continue with the war between angels and dogs. This tale features those that have been altered into half angels and half violent and vengeful dogs. The battle rages on as the evil forces try to stop them from saving the world. But Angel must protect the family at all costs as well as figure out what they are supposed to do…
Do You HATE the Da Vinci Code Movie
I saw it last night and it was as good as the book which is bad. I expected more from Hanks and the Director. The acting was stilted and the story was not even improved by the fact that it had fiery issues to deal with.
