Skulduggery Pleasant is an exciting series about a living skeleton detective trying to stop the Faceless Ones from coming to the Earth. It is a very fun and exhilarating series. I recommend it to anyone aged 11 – 15 years old.
About Skulduggery Pleasant
“So you won′t keep anything from me again?”
He put his hand to his chest. “Cross my heart and hope to die.”
“Okay then. Though you don′t actually have a heart,” she said.
“I know.”
“And technically, you′ve already died.”
“I know that too.”
“Just so we′re clear.”
Stephanie′s uncle Gordon is a writer of horror fiction. But when he dies and leaves her his estate, Stephanie learns that while he may have written horror, it certainly wasn′t fiction.
Pursued by evil forces intent on recovering a mysterious key, Stephanie finds help from an unusual source – the wisecracking skeleton of a dead wizard.
When all hell breaks loose, it′s lucky for Skulduggery that he′s already dead. Though he′s about to discover that being a skeleton doesn′t stop you from being tortured, if the torturer is determined enough. And if there′s anything Skulduggery hates, it′s torture… Will evil win the day? Will Stephanie and Skulduggery stop bickering long enough to stop it? One thing′s for sure: evil won′t know what′s hit it.

The verdict is in! Our judges have convened and selected our winners for the 2011 Lens of Youth photography competition and we’re ready to announce it to the world!
This years judges were:
Hans Lignell
president of the Mosman Camera Club
Angus Megarrity
Youth Development Officer at Mosman Youth Centre
Alycia Bailey
Young Adult Librarian at Mosman Library
I’d like to thank our judges, who have put a lot of time, effort and thought into their decisions and who have shown incredible support in the recognition of the talented young people of Mosman. Along with the Judges I’d like to thank the Shorefest committee who have provided the prizes for this competition. I’d also like to thank the photographers who have shared their talent and hard work with us.
Each winner in the Lens of Youth open category will receive a winners certificate, $100 and a prize pack.
Hans says: An outstanding self portrait that’s somewhat haunting as it makes the viewer think about what the photographer is telling us. Is the girl unhappy? Is she thinking about her life? What is going through her mind? Overall an excellent and well thought out image that has a great deal of impact. It has been well executed and would do very well in any photography competition. Congratulations to Aimee for thinking outside the norm and giving us something that is uniquely original. Whilst this image stood out as a winner, the second one by Aimee is equally as good.
Angus says: I really like the grit of this photo. It captures the most beautiful harbour in the world in a manner which is rarely seen. We are so often flooded with the vacuous high gloss stereotypical Sydney Harbour shots that speak to the tourist masses but this shot shows something different, a darker side, a moody brooding side that is still extremely beautiful but is more honest in its presentation.
Alycia says: I fell in love with the way that this photograph depicts a moment of un-self-conscious sweetness as the sleeping figure follows the sliver of sun during a siesta. The figure leans to the right following the focus of the shot and, presumably, the sunbeam as it travels across the room. This photograph is warm and safe, depicting a vulnerable moment without appearing to be heavily constructed.
While the judges have all made their final choices they did want to give a special mention to this spectacular shot.
The Judges say: Another superb image that has been well seen by the photographer. Whilst many others would have walked past, the photographer has instead looked up at the exact moment the clouds were at their most threatening. There is a wonderful story here with the dark shutters, the lone green tree, the reflections on the windows, and of course the spectacular cloud formation. A very dramatic shot that is technically superb. Well done, a great grab shot.
The winner of the Shorefest category will receive a certificate and a $200 prize
Shorefest by Akayuki:13
Judges say: There was one photographer whose work stood out, as they attempted to show us more than just the bands on the stage or the shots of the crowds. They provided a unique perspective of Shorefest
