A Youth Congress is to be held on Sydney’s Northern Beaches over 3 days between 29th November and 1st December 2011, to focus on local and international environmental concerns and how we can make a positive difference to our world together.
‘Youth Leading The World’ is an initiative of OzGreen, working in partnership with shoroc councils Manly, Mosman, Pittwater & Warringah and is being organised by young local residents.
Over the course of the three days, youth delegates will learn about local and global sustainability challenges, brainstorm ideas on their hopes for a better future and how to integrate sustainability ideas into their everyday lives, the local community and the global community.
The Youth Congress will be held between 29th November and 1st December 2011 from 9am -3pm daily at YoYo’s Youth Centre, Forest Way Shopping Centre, Cnr of Warringah Road and Forest Way, Frenchs Forest. The Community Forum will be held on 1st December 2011 from 1.30pm-3:00pm at YoYo’s Youth Centre.
Entry is free for all events and the shoroc councils are encouraging young people and the wider community to get involved and be inspired to create positive environmental change.

Once a month we have a little geek pride rally here at Mosman Library and we grab our dice and our character sheets and play a session of Dungeons & Dragons. We’d like to introduce ourselves to you so you can learn our story.
Gilbert: Tiefling Warlord
The leader of the party, Gilbert issues the commands and seems to have an uncanny ability to maneuver his troops in battle. A force to be reckoned with both on and off the field of combat.
Grim: Dragonborn Paladin
Grim is a deeply religious character. Highly motivated and extremely dangerous, he will leap into battle to reap just retribution on those who commit evil.
Hayfia: Human Wizard
Compared to some of the party members, Hayfia is a little skinny. But don’t be fooled, he is definitely no pushover. Able to do massive damage with his scorching burst and burning hands spells, our wizard is a bit of a fire bug.
Ceil Wolf: Halfling Rogue
The ability to sneak into small places and go unnoticed in crowds makes _ perfect for espionage and infiltration. She is secretive about her past, but always willing to help a true friend in need.
Lamant: Human Ranger
Lamant is the ultimate boy scout and he’s taken “always be prepared” to the extreme. Lamant is able to survive in any conditions using his survival skills. No matter what the Gods throw at him, Lamant always has the right equipment for every situation.
Hi! I’m Alycia, the new Youth Librarian here at Mosman Library!
I’m fresh to public libraries and super-enthusiastic about making Mosman Library an even greater place for young people to visit.
I’m hoping to have lots of great activities and workshops starting up and we’ll be bringing back the Wired 4 Teens book group. I’ve got a few pretty cool ideas for the school holidays and we’ll be doing the gaming nights where we rock out with Rock Band in the Teen Zone.
I’m curious, though. What do you want to see happen in your library? What activities would you come to, and what kinds of workshops do you think are important? Be brave and introduce yourself in the comments and tell me what you want your Teen Zone to be.

I am the Customer Services librarian at Mosman Library but I also do the teen activities. I love reading sci/fi and fantasy and organising teen events.
Coming soon will be our chocolate festival in March, the Lego battle and jewellery workshop in April holidays and don’t forget Shoreshocked where you can get your own free henna tattoo. If you are interested in any of these events or have your own idea on what the library could do email me.
Watch this space for more events!
